Old Boys reduce plastic with reusable cup system

Newport High School Old Boys has taken a step to reduce its plastic at Yew Tree Lane.

The new reusable cups will be launched at the club’s senior mens clash against Oakdale RFC, 25th November.

Supporters will be required to pay a £2 deposit on the first cup of the day and then return with that cup, to receive a clean one for each following drink. At the end of the match, supporters have the option to either hand their cup back into the bar and recoup their deposit, or can take it home.

We’ve also agreed brand new sponsorship deals with local businesses Country Connect and Malpas Court Social Enterprise.

Following a single-use plastics ban from 30th October in Wales, the Old Boys have replaced all of their single use products. In 2022, plastic and polystyrene accounted for 76.%% of all beach litter in Wales. Single-use plastics are discarded without thought, causing harm to wildlife and our environment.
